We’re delighted to close the 2018 Abulensis Festival Internacional de Música with Of a rose is all my song, a meditative sequence of works devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Renaissance to the present day. Taking its name from a work by Kenneth Leighton, Of a rose features two of the great 16th century Marian antiphons, Tallis’ Videte miraculum and Mundy’s Vox Patris caelestis, alongside 20th century works and Adam lay ybounden, a carol by the living British composer Matthew Martin, featured on our 2013 recording Incarnation.
