Haydn Harmoniemesse, London

St. Andrew's Church, Holborn

09 March 2017, 8pm

For over 30 years Gabrieli and our Artistc Director Paul McCreesh have surprised, challenged and inspired audiences with world-renowned interpretations of great vocal and instrumental repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day. Gabrieli Roar, our unique choral training scheme, stands apart from other education projects by putting the inclusion of young singers at the heart of Gabrieli’s core activity. This is driven by Paul McCreesh’s desire to offer teenagers the opportunity to excel by performing side-by-side with our professional musicians.

We are delighted to announce that in March 2017 Gabrieli Roar will be partnering with London Youth Choir as part of a Regional Concert Series to present Haydn’s last major work, his exuberant Harmoniemesse, with soloists from the Gabrieli Consort and our period instrument ensemble, directed by Paul McCreesh. The concert will also feature a first half performance celebrating the senior choirs of LYC, directed by Robbie Jacobs.

The London Youth Choir (LYC) is a family of five choirs, established in 2012 by Suzi Digby OBE and Rachel Staunton to provide singers living or educated within Greater London with an outstanding choral education through exceptional musical training and high-level performance opportunities. The choir’s vision is to inspire young people to achieve the highest possible standard in choral singing, musicianship and vocal production in a supportive and welcoming environment, whilst representing the city of London.
