Gabrieli Roar present Purcell’s opera, Dido and Aeneas. To perform this Trojan story of love and betrayal, royal duty and warfare, 200 students from across Oxford will be joined by Gabrieli’s world-class professional musicians, with mezzo-soprano Bethany Horak-Hallett in the title role and conducted by Paul McCreesh. Interwoven throughout the performance are folk songs and sea shanties, thematically linked to the story of the opera.

The performance will feature young singers from Cheney School, Cherwell School, Radley College, Radley College Choristers, Dunmore Primary School, Radley Primary School, Europa School and Rose Hill Primary School.

This project is part of Roar Evolve, a programme designed to engage young people who already have some experience of singing, giving them the chance to sing side-by-side with professional musicians, an orchestra and world-class soloists.
