Gabrieli Roar Summer Residential: Participant and Partner Feedback
24 September 2025
“I think I speak for more people than just myself when I say you can’t put a price on the feeling of Gabrieli.”
Reading through the feedback from our residential course this summer, we’re struck by how Gabrieli’s values are reflected in how our partners and participants feel about a Gabrieli Roar course … it’s a joy to know that our purpose and motivation for sharing great music and opportunity widely are clear to all.
You told us that Gabrieli is:
Open, empowering and welcoming
“The atmosphere is incredible. Every member of the team is so, so supportive and always happy to have a chat about anything, from careers in music to reviews of the talent show. Shout out to Katya in the pastoral team! The dedication of Freya, Anna and all of the organisers of Roar is admirable and everyone is made to feel at home.”
Excellent and uncompromising
“Working with Paul McCreesh is something I could never experience anywhere else. Being able to sing such huge works of high quality is really the defining feature of Roar … I think standing up for applause after singing in Ely Cathedral might be one of the best feelings in the world.”
Adventurous, challenging and brave
“I think the way Paul treats us as professionals is unique, as most other places don’t expect as much from young people.”

Impactful and relevant
“I have learnt so much musically from the masterclasses this year, which felt so relevant to the week. Richard’s class … with memorisation and learning techniques … helped with getting the key moments of Seasons off-copy, to give Paul full attention as he conducted. Suzzie Vango’s session was also absolutely brilliant. I learnt so much about the ways that the voice functions which I didn’t know before.”
Joyful
“The whole set up is about the students enjoying the experience from the second they get up to the second they finally fall asleep (and rinse and repeat!). Due to this, they don’t realise the extent to which they are improving … There is not one child who doesn’t come out of the performance without the biggest smile and buzz because it dawns on them what they have achieved.”
