We did it! Thank you to everyone for your support with our Big Give Arts for Impact campaign.
27 March 2024
A huge thank you to all our supporters for helping us reach our Arts for Impact Big Give Target of £10, 000. We are so grateful to our loyal supporters and delighted to welcome new members to our growing Gabrieli community. Of course, we will continue to fundraise for our Gabrieli Roar Christmas tour, engaging 5000 young singers. We hope to see you there too! Thank you.
The Big Give campaign
Since the pandemic, 39% of secondary school teachers have reported a reduction in music education (ISM 2020). We believe, – and countless studies have shown – that the rapid decline in music in schools is damaging to young people. The sheer joy, wonder and sense of community experienced when singing as part of a large-scale choir is a long tradition in private schools. We are bringing choral singing to all teenagers across the UK, especially in areas of low cultural provision.
For over 40 years, Gabrieli, under the artistic direction of Paul McCreesh, has cultivated an international reputation for excellence, innovation and wide-ranging ambition. Renowned both for its performances and recordings, Gabrieli is hitting the road in 2024 with the aim to engage young singers up and down the UK in our large-scale choral performances.
Campaign Aims:
- We aim to inspire young singers with extraordinary experiences, offering an insight into the world of professional performers, enabling them to see the hard work, focus and dedication required of a performer, whilst experiencing the thrill of live performance.
- We aim to provide a socially inclusive, artistically excellent experience. We work with young singers in schools in advance to ensure that participants are musically and personally prepared for an immersive, intensive experience in which musical knowledge and vocal ability can flourish and grow.
- We aim to ensure financial circumstances are never a barrier to participation. With the last year being financially challenging for families, bursaries will be offered to those most in need. Our commitment is that no young singer is excluded based on financial disadvantage.
- We aim to change the narrative that choral singing is the preserve of the private schools. We aim to get 5,000 young singers all over the UK immersed in and loving choral music
Where’s the money going?
- £3,000 – Access and opportunity including bursaries – ensuring everyone can take part
- £4,000 – Concert venues, artists and production – the fun bit
- £3,000 – Operational expenditure – the engine room
Gabrieli is fundraising all year round for our work with young people. This campaign will contribute to our fundraising and will enable this project to go ahead alongside the support of trusts, foundations, corporate supporters and major donors. Every penny will go towards empowering young people in choral music.
