Susie's Run for Roar!

Our CEO Susie York Skinner is taking up the challenge to run the 2024 Vitality London 10k to raise money for Gabrieli Roar!

We need your support to help Susie smash her target. All the money raised will go towards providing more fantastic opportunities for young singers across the country.

Here’s what Susie has to say:

I grew up in a family of musicians, in a county that – as a teenager – provided me with numerous youth orchestras and choirs, entirely free of charge. My lifelong friendships were made on orchestral residentials and singing courses. Music and opportunity and learning and growth were everywhere. I had no idea how lucky I was.

For the majority of our young people today, such luck is unthinkable.

I am proud to lead an organisation that is determined to bring such opportunity back to communities across the country. Gabrieli believes fervently in engaging young people with great music, supporting them to explore it and fall in love with it.

This year Gabrieli Roar will work with over 6000 young people. We have huge ambitions to continue to expand our work, but to do so needs a small army of loyal donors, fundraisers and grant-makers.

So, it’s time for me to get off my soapbox and into my trainers, and do my bit to support this cause. I am no runner! About 12 years ago, I once managed to run 7km. That was a long time ago. Childbirth, knee surgery and the onset of middle age have all been and gone since then… My children will not run with me because I am too slow. But I am determined to do this and if you can support me, it may just take the edge off the pain of doing so – and in the process, you’ll be supporting an amazing cause where I can personally see to it that every penny you donate is used well!
