A Rose Magnificat - BBC Music Magazine Choral Nominee 2019

We’re delighted to announce that A Rose Magnificat – the latest release on Winged Lion Records – has been nominated in the Choral category of the 2019 BBC Music Magazine Awards!

This stunning collection explores the diverse and extensive body of works dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary over the centuries and includes music by Tallis, MacMillan, Howells and Leighton, as well as the world premiere of a new work by the young British composer, Matthew Martin. As ever, award winners will be selected by the public, and we’d be grateful if you’d lend your voice to our campaign by voting online now.

But don’t just take our word for it – here’s what the critics are saying about A Rose Magnificat:

‘Here we have musical reflections on the Virgin Mary, ranging from deliciously sensuous Tallis to Peter Warlock’s lilting harmonies, and the glowing 16th-century splendour of Robert White’s Magnificat. The radiant purity of the singing is framed by the depth and clarity of the recording, and the choral virtuosity in the title track at the end of the album is breathtaking.’
