Roar Senior Choir - Elgar's Dream of Gerontius Recording

We’re excited to launch a new Roar Senior Choir, aimed at ambitious young people aged 16-21. This auditioned choir will be formed for the recording of Elgar’s mighty The Dream of Gerontius in July 2023, following on from the Roar Summer residential course 21-26 July.

A part of Roar’s expansion strategy designed to support the development of young musicians’ careers, the Roar Senior Choir will rehearse, perform and record alongside the Polish National Youth Choir and the professional voices of the Gabrieli Consort.

Applications are now open for up to 100 places in this exciting new choir. Roar Senior Choir members will need to participate in the Summer residential course in advance of the London performance and recording project to be held at Croydon’s Fairfield Halls.

We particularly encourage applications from young singers of the widest range of backgrounds, especially those within the state sector.

The selection process will consist of a written application, including a personal statement and Choir Director letter of recommendation, in addition to an audition early in 2023. Auditions will be held in cities around the country, with recorded auditions open to those unable to attend in person.
