Patrick Harrison succeeds Alan Gemes, a longstanding supporter and Chair since 2018. In over a decade on the Gabrieli board he has provided essential and insightful support, guidance and leadership to the board staff, and Artistic Director.

We are indebted to Alan for his many years’ service, driven by his passion for the music that we all love. I was particularly pleased to work with Alan to realise our 2019 recordings of Purcell King Arthur and Fairy Queen, as this is music that I know to be particularly close to his heart. Alan has overseen a period of tremendous change at Gabrieli, as the Roar programme has become increasingly central to our work. It was a joy to share with him our recent triumph at the Gramophone Awards, when our recording of Elgar The Dream of Gerontius received the Choral Recording of the Year Award.

I am delighted that Patrick is joining our board and look forward to working with him to build on our reputation as one of Europe’s leading performing ensembles, and to continue our mission to expand the national reach of Gabrieli Roar as it becomes the nation’s largest youth singing programme.
