David CleggChoral Manager

David is the Choral Manager of Gabrieli, working closely with Paul McCreesh in all vocal and choral elements of the organisation, helping to create some of the virtuosic a cappella programmes that are a strong feature of the group’s repertoire, and choosing the singers that realise these and other projects. In his time with Gabrieli he has fixed choirs both large and small, and has taken equal pride in gathering enormous forces for the gargantuan performances of works such as Berlioz Grande Messe des Morts, Mendelssohn Elijah and Britten War Requiem, as well the critically acclaimed recordings of the smaller ensemble.

He has sung as both a soloist and consort member with most of the country’s well known groups and has travelled extensively with his performing career, singing throughout the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, North and Central America. One of his very early appearances with Gabrieli resulted in him falling into a canal in Utrecht, an escapade that never fails to raise a smile with maestro McCreesh.
