Stephen Barter

Stephen is Chairman of Wilton Capital Advisers, his own independent investment firm, which provides strategic real estate and management advice to major corporations, international investors, family offices and Government. His previous roles include Chairman of KPMG’s Real Estate Advisory practice, UK CEO of Qatari Diar (the property arm of the Qatar Investment Authority), Group Projects Director at Grosvenor, the private international property company, Head of European Real Estate for a leading investment bank and an equity partner at Richard Ellis (now CBRE).

Music has always been a fundamental part of his life. A Choral Exhibitioner at Cambridge while an undergraduate, he later sung with the London Symphony Chorus, the Academy of St Martin’s-in-the-Fields Chorus and the Vasari Singers. Education development is a similar interest. Among other appointments, he is EMEA Co-Chair of the Global Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a member of the Investments Committee of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge and a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Circle at Oxford University. He is a former Deputy Chairman of the University of the Arts London and a former Trustee of the Aldeburgh Music Endowment Fund.
