Gabrieli celebrate 25 years with grand Creation 01.03.06

Haydn’s masterpiece to be performed at the Barbican Hall with participation from young musicians from Chetham’s Music School and recorded for Deutsche Gramophon.

Autumn sees the beginning of the Gabrieli Consort & Players’ 25th Anniversary Season. In celebration they will perform Haydn’s Creation on 26 October as part of the Great Performers’ season at the Barbican Hall with massed Gabrieli forces (200 performers on stage). The performance will feature star soloists soprano Sandrine Piau, tenor Mark Padmore and bass Neal Davies.

The choir will include members of the Chamber Choir from Chetham’s Music School in Manchester (one of the country’s largest specialist music schools) who will have been coached by key members of Gabrieli during a special joint education project earlier that month. The work will then be recorded by Deutsche Gramophon to be released in 2007.
