New Recording Launch 11.06.07

Paul McCreesh's choral pilgrimage, The Road to Paradise, is released 18 June on Deutsche Grammophon.

Inspired by a series of concerts on the pilgrim route to Santiago, Paul McCreesh’s choral pilgrimage, The Road to Paradise, is a bold and unique recording celebrating the passage of the soul from earthly tribulation to heavenly joys.

The Road to Paradise includes some of the finest vocal music of the English Renaissance, John Sheppard's masterpiece 'Media Vita', Byrd's 'Libera Me', alongside some of the great 20th century choral works such as Howells' magnificent memorial motet for the assassinated President Kennedy 'Take him, earth, for cherishing'.

To learn more about the recording, hear sound clips from The Road to Paradise and view photos from the project, please visit the album’s Deutsche Grammophon site.

The Gabrieli Consort performs more a cappella repertoire on 19 June at Christ Church, Spitalfields, London as part of the Spitalfields Festival.  For more information on this programme, please follow the link.
