“Truly sinful emotional awareness” – The Evening Standard
Gabrieli’s sold-out performance at Christ Church, Spitalfields [29 January 2008] of Handel’s rarely heard Roman oratorio, La Resurrezione, has garnered two four-star reviews.
The Evening Standard and The Times both praised the five soloists’ ability to embrace each character with distinctive singing styles ranging from “stylish,” to “superbly hellish,” “noble,” “graceful” and even “chocolatey”.
The Times particularly applauded Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Players “who tackled the colourful score with affection and gusto.”
