Handel arias tour with Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Players will not go ahead.

Star Tenor Rolando Villazón has cancelled all engagements until the end of 2009, including a tour of Handel arias with Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Players, scheduled from 29 April - 10 May 2009 with concerts in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg and Valladolid. He was diagnosed with a cyst on one of his vocal chords which needs to be surgically removed as soon as possible.

His management Universal Music Classical Management & Productions confirmed today in London that Rolando Villazón will return to performing in 2010.

Says his doctor, renowned voice specialist and surgeon Dr Gerrit Wohlt from Berlin, “Upon completion of the operation and the subsequent phase of rehabilitation we can expect the tenor to fully recover and return towards the end of the year.”
