Interim Chief Executive Announcement

We are delighted to announce the appointment of John McMunn as Interim Chief Executive, covering Susie York Skinner’s maternity leave from 10 October 2016 onwards.

John trained as a musicologist at Harvard and Cambridge Universities before pursuing an international career as a freelance soloist on the opera and concert stages. Notable appearances over his 10 year performance career include roles for the Royal Opera House and English National Opera; the Aldeburgh, Buxton and City of London Festivals; oratorio appearances with Academy of Ancient Music and the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony and Ulster Orchestras; as well as numerous collaborations with Gabrieli, most recently the 2012 recording A New Venetian Coronation 1595.

Following a move into management John has held fundraising and marketing roles at Tenebrae Choir and the Academy of Ancient Music, and he joins Gabrieli from Cambridge Summer Music Ltd, the charity which promotes the annual Cambridge Summer Music Festival. In 2016, as Director of CSM, John programmed, funded, marketed and delivered a Festival season of 35 concerts over 16 days, featuring more than 55 artists and ensembles, performing in 19 venues across the City of Cambridge and as far afield as Ely Cathedral, where Gabrieli Roar made its tremendously successful debut on 4 July 2016.
