Gabrieli open the 56th annual Festival Pollença with an a cappella programme of works devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, ranging from the renaissance to the present day. Taking its name from a work by Kenneth Leighton, Of a rose is all my song features two of the great 16th century Marian antiphons, Tallis’ Videte miraculum and Mundy’s Vox Patris caelestis, alongside 20th century works and Adam lay ybounden, a carol by the living British composer Matthew Martin, featured on the recent recording Incarnation.
