Pergolesi's one-act opera buffa from 1733 is a classic comedy romp. Serpina, a head-strong maid servant, has grown so bossy that her batchelor master, Uberto, resolves to find himself a wife just so he can be rid of her taunting. Can Serpina herself succeed in winning his hand? To find out, come to our production updated to 1920s England (perfect for its Music Hall setting with libretto newly translated by Paul McCreesh.
