“If I were threatened with the destruction of the whole of my work save one, I should crave mercy for the Messe des Morts.” Hector Berlioz
The Grande Messe des Morts is one of Berlioz’s most magnificent and powerful scores, calling for a mighty chorus, full orchestra and four antiphonal brass choirs. This is a monumental performance for Gabrieli and will feature over 200 singers and orchestral players in collaboration with the Wrocław Philharmonic Choir, the Festival Orchestra, plus students from Chetham’s School of Music.
