Handel's brilliant Easter oratorio La Resurrezione is a product of his youthful years in Italy, an intensely creative period for him when he forged the style that would serve him for the next forty years. Like many before and after, he also discovered that Italy could teach him all he needed to know about singing and singers, and in this performance his newly acquired vocal lustre and energy is thrillingly demonstrated by one of the world's most sought-after Baroque conductors and ensembles and an exciting cast of young soloists.
