We are excited to have been chosen to participate in The Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year! The focus of our campaign will be our 2018 gargantuan performance and recording project, An English Coronation, at Ely Cathedral in July 2018. Please support us!

This is our first reconstruction project for over a decade and it draws on the music of the four coronations of the last century to celebrate these extravagant but solemn services. These occasions employed vast choral and orchestral forces which, in true Gabrieli fashion, we will recreate, breathing new life into familiar music. There is a huge wealth of repertoire to choose from, including Parry I was Glad, Elgar O Hearken Thou, Walton Coronation Te Deum and earlier works by Byrd, Handel, Purcell and Tallis. Our performing group will be nearly 400-strong: at least 250 young singers from Gabrieli Roar, 50 Gabrieli Consort and an orchestra of 80, including some rare early-twentieth century instruments.

By donating through The Big Give between 28 November and 5 December any donation – big or small – is DOUBLED!
